Poetry – Please send 1-4 poems for consideration, compiling all poems in a single document. Include a brief author bio as part of your cover letter.

Fiction – Please send one (1) piece of fiction (4000-word max) for consideration. Excerpts from longer works or flash fiction are welcome. Include a brief author bio as part of your cover letter.

Nonfiction – Please send one (1) piece of nonfiction (4000-word max) for consideration. Excerpts from longer works or flash nonfiction are welcome. Include a brief author bio as part of your cover letter.

Prude Bruce Clause – Please limit yourself to submitting work in just one (1) genre per reading period (i.e., poetry, fiction, or nonfiction).

For Our Loyal Veterans – Feel free to continually submit to NBR if we’ve published you before. Prove once again just how brilliant you are.

Withdrawals – To withdraw a submission at any time during our reading periods, please do so in our Submissions Manager. Simultaneous submissions are fine, yet kindly inform us ASAP if your work is taken elsewhere. We only engage with submitters via Submittable.
